The Discord of a Forgotten Sketch are an experimental punk band from Montreal, Canada. They formed in 2003, and released their fi rst EP in 03/2004 on New Romance for Kids. The record did really well with media and fans all over the world (see reviews of the EP below), it got the band their fi rst bit of attention, and allowed them to tour in Canada, and the USA. Their fi rst release spread like a cancer among fans of challenging hard core.
After 2 years of waiting, here is the debut LP from the avant-garde quartet. Cultures colliding at manic speeds, jazz over noise, mayhem over rock, their sophomore recording tears through 10 tracks of crafted chaos. Like on their fi rst EP, the songs are still spontaneous, robotic and fragmented, but this time around, the Discord chip in some hypnotic grooves that build into pure psychedelic euphoria. TDOAFS moan out confused and tortuous offbeat noise doodles and stop on a dime time signatures that will leave you confused. Once again, TDOAFS demonstrate extreme ability and creativity. Constructing –> deconstructing –> exploding riffs.
Self-recorded and mixed by François Alexis (guitar), the Discord of a Forgotten Sketch took it upon themselves to record their songs. While Francois-Alexis was studying sound engineering in Drummondville, he realised he had access to some free, top-notch recording gear. So from August to September 2006 TDOAFS sneaked into the studio at night, to record what results today in an impressive art-rock release. The Discord of a Forgotten Sketch are one of a handful of Quebec acts pushing the limits of heavy music (i.e. the Expectorated Sequence, Ion Dissonance, Despised Icon, Voivoid).
