Three musicians Jeff Arnal - percussion, Gordon Beeferman - electric piano, and Seth Misterka - alto sax, and three choreographers Estelle Woodward, Alison Robinson and Corrina Kalisz form the collaborative Rara Avis Sextet. This ensemble explores a collective dynamic and vocabulary rooted in improvisation ranging from the fiercely complex to the evocatively lyrical. The musicians have gained praise as a trio for their superior technical abilities, imaginative powers, inventive solos and richly thematic frameworks. The choreographers are dance activists and longtime creative collaborators known widely as Loophole.
