Ani Christy Singer
Birthdate: 15.03.1986
Birthplace: Yerevan, Armenia

Ani-Christy (Ani Martirosyan) was born March 15th, 1986, to a family which was comprised of artists. Her father was an actor, and her mother was a concert violinist maestro. A love of Art was present in the home from her earliest childhood, and Ani-Christy was often a spectator who attended the many theatre performances which her father performed on stage. At a very early age, she knew almost all of the plays and the songs by heart, and could 'mirror' her father's songs and theatrical productions, which she performed for her parents' enjoyment.

From her earliest age, however, her dream was not to become a singer, but rather a doctor or a lawyer; this was despite her singing talents, which she inherited from her grandmother. The desire to be a singer started in her early school years. It began as a very casual interest, which then grew into a stronger desire that eventually guided her into the art of singing.

For the first three years, Ani-Christy studied at the English Charents Secondary School (1993). After this, she went on to study in the Nork 1st Array number 134 Secondary Schools, continuing her education there.

Even as a newcomer to the school, Ani was already well-known as a great performer, and her singing talents remained unnoticed by the music teacher. She had to collect and present 7-8 students for "Isabelle" Children and Youth Festival. The invitation to participate in the festival was assigned to Ani, who was the youngest participant.

When the earliest stages of the competition began, Ani was singing in four languages: Armenian, English, French, and Russian. Among the many participants, Ani received the first place award. This festival was dedicated to the 10th anniversary commemoration of the Karabakh movement. Ani received the first place, in the category of honorable young performers’ genre and left for a tour-performances by Greece (2000)

The same year at the school festival in her age group was the first, as well as at the "Golden Note" contest - festival (2000).

2001: "Krounk" Hay Pop Song Festival. In this Festival, Ani-Christy performed with well known artists and presented the song “Kindness Wins” by Vahan Andreasian.

2001: Ani also Participated in The Third Annual National festival competition in the 15-30 age group. Here Ani was awarded the honorary 1st prize winner and recognized for “Best Applause” category.

2002 "Sayat-Nova" Best Song Award Ceremony organized by V. Hovnanian opened an even more creative way of life for the young singer.

Next, the "Karot" song (words by Mane Hakobyan Hakobyan Music: Araz), became featured on a business card with the 15-year-old girl. This caused her to become well-known not only in Armenia, but also throughout all the Armenian communities around the world. At this Festival Song Contest Ani-Christy’s performance stunned and the result was the birth of a new category "Best Performance", which enabled Ani to be recognized as top winner.

The same year at the "Krounk" festival she was awarded the Silver statuette; and this brought Ani the admiration of the audience, as well as the lead singer title.

As a result of her participation in such festivals, and victories, the mayor of Nor Nork region M. Minasian awarded Ani a diploma on behalf of Nor Nork community. At that time Ani was only in the 9th grade.

Similar victories combined with her good attitude encouraged the young singer to become even more responsible and industrious.

Again, in 2003, she competed in the Sayat-Nova Competition Festival, and this time received the "Best Performer Award". She sang "Armenia Country" music and theme by S.H. Sargsyan and M. Tagakchyan.

In those years, despite being quite young, Ani also actively participated in various charity concerts; and on several occasions was featured on "Disabled Children's Night".

In 2003, participating in "Asian voices" Festival Song Competition, she received a special prize for the preservation of national traditions, in the city of Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, in central Asia. Ani was given this prize by the President's daughter, and also received an invitation to perform throughout the world, by the great Indian composer A. R. Rahman, who was among juries. Ani-Christy accepted this invitation, and went on the tour to Dubai, India, and a number of other nations. For two years, she continued working and participating with the composer, and was often invited to concerts which were taking place in many cities. This experience also brought a great deal of self-assurance for Ani, and helped further her proficiency and added to her experience.

In 2005, Ani-Christy was recognized as the Best Newcomer at the Award Ceremony Organized by Armenian National Television. She also received the award for Interpretive and Creative Variety Musical Performance.

Next, Ani filmed a variety of video clips, and all the songs that were featured in these videos were already becoming hits, which brought even greater recognition and publicity to Ani-Christy.

By 2007, the young woman had accumulated many songs, and had shot videos, as well as produced her first CD. All of these achievements were to be followed by a solo concert on July 12th and 13th, at the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. This concert was a great performance, and took place to the accompaniment of live sound and an unprecedented light and dance show. The event lasted for two days. The Armenian National Television was the first to broadcast this concert worldwide.

Such a strenuous workload caused the great singer to experience a weakening of the immune system and a decline in appetite. Eventually, this even required medical intervention. Finally, the singer sprang back to her former strength and industriousness.

In 2008, New York's CAC Award, representing Armenia, was awarded to Ani, who was given the title of best singer. In 2010, she received the same award for the second time, and was experiencing the best of times in her career.

Ani-Christy is currently working on a new album, which will be called "A New Day will come". Ani now works with a number of new musicians, including well-known guitarist Tommy Organ, and drummer Greg Organ, who has also worked in the past with Michael Jackson, and other famous singers. Later these performers will act as Ani-Christy's band members. She is also preparing for new music videos. The presentation of this second album will take place first in the U.S., and then in the mother land of Armenia.
